Last week, Kim and Dane, our cousins from Ohio, came down to MB for vaca. We wanted to meet for dinner and tossed around several ideas but landed on the Flamingo Grill. None of us had been there and it has always been a MB staple in the local restaurants.
When you walk in, there’s a tree growing in the foyer and it looks like you take a step into Vegas on Fremont St with all the neon lights.
They have quite an expansive menu with seafood and things from the land. We started off with some drinks from the bar. Kim and I got a peach margarita and it was absolutely delicious; tasted just like a peach.
Dane, Dad, and I had some she crab soup for starters. Me and dad are definitely she crab soup connoisseurs so were excited to try theirs. It ended up being awful – it had the consistency and taste of gravy. My first bite had a crab shell and then my third or fourth bite had a crab claw in it. You really couldn’t taste the sherry and not a lot of crab.

I ordered the lobster bites. Now I’ve tasted a lot of lobster but my entree did not have the consistency or taste of lobster – more like shrimp. We mentioned it to the waitress but she assured us it was lobster. About halfway through I found some chicken. So I’m sure it was just all mixed up. The garlic mashed potatoes and garlic toast were tasty though.
Kim got grilled chicken – she did like it. Mom got the crab cake entree – she says she’s had better. And the guys got the Prime Rib. Their presentation is good though.

The ambience and drinks at the Flamingo Grill were great but the food was not so much. I would give it about 2 stars. The owner came around and the guys discussed the She Crab Soup and he assured us he has made it that way for 30 years. We were not impressed.
We had great company though and it was great to catch up with family. The conversation was definitely better than the food haha.

We headed to Broadway at the Beach after dinner for some ice cream at Kilwin’s. Now that place is definitely one of our favorites.
I had the butter pecan in a waffle cone which is my favorite!!
We walked around and found a bench to continue catching up. (And teach Kim how to take a selfie 😂)!! We had a lot of fun!
